‘Get me out of here!’: Ocasio-Cortez can’t wait to escape DC on the weekends

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has only been on the job for a couple of months and she is already feeling the pressure.

After enduring the three-and-a-half-day workweek in Washington, Ocasio-Cortez, in her own words, admitted that she can’t wait to get “out of here.”

Time to Chill

By Thursday, Ocasio-Cortez said, “I’m like, ‘Get me out of here!”

“It can seriously be the upside down, and I have to come back to my life,” the 29-year-old congresswoman said at a town hall meeting in the Bronx.

Like most of her fellow lawmakers, AOC sneaks out of D.C. early on Thursday. She currently spends her weekends back home in her district.

Rock Star or Politician?

Far younger than most of her fellow politicians, AOC has been tagged by the media as the future of the party.

However, her ways have not exactly endeared her to all of her fellow Democrats just yet.

For instance, there was significant backlash when AOC announced she was putting together a list of Democrats not voting along party lines.

Then, of course, there is the Green New Deal. AOC’s first crack at legislation ended up being a colossal failure, and that is putting it mildly.

She literally became the joke of the party when her legislation failed to get a single Democrat vote of approval when it was put to vote in the Senate.

Ocasio-Cortez might have thought she could throw her ridiculous agenda around with a bright smile and enjoy a cakewalk.

However, she is quickly finding out life under constant scrutiny is not all it’s cracked up to be.
