Former President Obama has spoken out in the aftermath of the Parkland, Florida school shooting that left 17 dead, and his message should send chills down your spine.
Apparently the former president has been waiting for traumatized kids to push his gun control narrative, and now he sees his army taking shape.
The Wait Is Over.
The students who have spoken out the most, David Hogg, Emma Gonzalez and Cameron Kasky, are all theater students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas School, the school that was attacked by a crazed gunman on Valentine’s Day.
They are upset kids with no policy experience.
But former President Obama is a major fan.
“Young people have helped lead all our great movements. How inspiring to see it again in so many smart, fearless students standing up for their right to be safe; marching and organizing to remake the world as it should be. We’ve been waiting for you. And we’ve got your backs,” he said in a tweet.
That followed a tweet he made the day after the shooting in which he pounded the familiar gun control drum.
“We are grieving with Parkland. But we are not powerless,” he said. “Caring for our kids is our first job. And until we can honestly say that we’re doing enough to keep them safe from harm, including long overdue, common-sense gun safety laws that most Americans want, then we have to change.”
The Fight For Rights.
President Obama’s tweet of admiration for the kids at the forefront of the anti-gun movement came on the same day that National Rifle Association Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre warned attendees of the Conservative Political Action Committee convention that Democrats want to abolish the right to bear arms.
“As usual, the opportunists waited not one second to exploit tragedy for political gain,” he said. “Chris Murphy, Nancy Pelosi, and more, cheered on by the national media, eager to blame the NRA and call for more government control.”
“They hate the NRA,” he said. ”The elites don’t care one wit about school children. If they truly cared, they would protect them.”
The truth is that it is a zero sum game. You cannot believe in The Second Amendment and also believe that certain guns should be banned or that new and extreme measures have to be taken to limit access to firearms.
No matter how reasonable the demands of progressives could seem to the untrained ear, the fact is that each step on the gun control ladder is merely another step on their mission to eradicate The Second Amendment
And what they call “common sense” is a smokescreen because after you give them what they demand today, they will move the goalposts tomorrow.
