A new book about Joe Biden alleges that officials in the Barack Obama administration had concerns about how Hunter Biden’s job with Ukrainian energy company Burisma Holdings appeared to others, even if they didn’t think either Hunter or his father were doing anything wrong, the New York Post reports.
New Yorker writer Evan Osnos wrote about the Obama-era officials being “bothered” by the job in Joe Biden: The Life, the Run, and What Matters Now, which was released this week, according to the New York Post.
The administration didn’t like Hunter Biden’s Burisma job coming at the same time Joe Biden was overseeing relations with Ukraine, but they let it go, Osnos said.
Of course, the book notes that nobody in the administration thought either Biden was doing anything wrong at the time. They likely still don’t, in fact, even as emails surface that show both the Bidens getting into business overseas while Joe was still vice president.
The Senate confirms
As the New York Post notes, a Senate report that was released in September also found that at least two Obama officials expressed concerns about Hunter Biden’s Burisma job, but that nothing was ultimately done to stop it.
The Post reported: “The [Senate] report concluded that the Obama administration ignored ‘glaring warning signs’ and that ‘Hunter Biden’s role on Burisma’s board negatively impacted the efforts of dedicated career service individuals who were fighting to push for anticorruption measures in Ukraine.'”
According to the Post, the report didn’t come up with any evidence of direct wrongdoing at the time, but that was before tens of thousands of Hunter Biden’s emails were discovered on a laptop left at a computer store and produced by one of his former business associates, who is now in jail.
The hard drive from that laptop and numerous documents from ex-CEO of the Biden-formed company Sinohawk, Tony Bobulinski, are said to now be in the Senate’s possession, and may provide the evidentiary piece that the previous report lacked.
The FBI investigates
New information has also come to light revealing that the FBI has been investigating Hunter Biden for money laundering since 2019, when it first seized the laptop in question.
The FBI also reportedly interviewed Bobulinski for five hours after he came forward last week, asking questions about Bobulinski’s business dealings with both Hunter and Joe Biden with Sinohawk.
Bobulinski said he was listed as a “material witness” after the interview and may be subject to future questioning. He also told the FBI that China may have evidence of Biden business dealings all over the world, including Romania, Khazakstan, Georgia, Monaco, the Middle East, and Russia, according to investigative journalist James Rosen.
Bobulinski, a former Navy SEAL, pointed out that he and his entire immediate and extended family is now being guarded by ex-Navy SEALS. “I have now put myself in huge risk for the sake of the American people,” he told Rosen.
