Meghan Markle is in the midst of a tour of South Africa with Prince Harry and her new son Archie.
Former first lady Michelle Obama took to Instagram to promote her “friendship” with Markle by writing a gushing post about the Duchess, touting her as an “inspiration” and someone that is “breaking the mold.”

Thank you to my friend, Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex @sussexroyal, a thoughtful leader who is breaking the mold and making our world better for it. Whether meeting with our @ObamaFoundation Leaders or helping girls around the world seek the education they deserve, she is an inspiration to so many.
How Do They Know Each Other?
The two women were first to believed to have met last December when Michelle Obama was doing her book tour. Markle also met Barack Obama when he was president in 2015.
Last month, Meghan Markle served as the guest editor for British Vogue.
The issue, as you may know already, featured an interview with the former First Lady.
Markle’s introduction to the interview also gushed, but this was over Michelle Obama. She described the former First Lady as “kind, inspirational, motivating, funny.”
Working for Children
While we may not agree with much that Michelle Obama says, Markle has proven to be an inspiration to many during her time in the limelight.
She has done significant work for a charity called World Vision and served as its Global Ambassador from 2016 to 2017. While her main focus has been the importance of clean drinking water, she has done so much more.
She has traveled extensively throughout Africa and always seems to spend as much time as humanly possible with the children.
Markle has also done extensive work for women’s right and gender equality. Some of her other charitable interests are the Myna Mahila Foundation and One Young World.
In a 2016 article in Elle UK, Markle described her passion for working with children and humanitarian work.
She stated, “This type of work is what feeds my soul. The degree to which I can do that both on and off camera is a direct perk of my job.”
