The National Rifle Association (NRA) is pushing back on President Joe Biden and his fellow Democrats’ calls for gun control.
The Washington Examiner reports that the NRA has published a video that exposes just how little gun control advocates like Biden know about the firearms that they want to ban.
“Why is it that the people who want to take our guns know absolutely nothing about them?” the NRA wrote in the caption to the video, a roughly four-minute-long compilation of clips featuring the likes of former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), Reps. Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Burgess Owens (R-UT), and North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson (R). Take a look:

“Buy a shotgun”
According to the Examiner, the NRA’s video begins with a clip of Biden advising Americans to buy a shotgun instead of an AR-15. In that clip, Biden makes the claim that a shotgun provides better protection, and he relates advice that he gave his wife, Jill: if there is ever a problem, he said, take a shotgun to the balcony and fire off a couple of warning shots. The president declared that such an action would stop an intruder from entering.
“It’s almost like where do you start,” Rep. Jordan says in response to the clip. Congressman Owens opines: “Have him come to Philadelphia, Have him come to Detroit, Chicago, and walk outside and use a shotgun and see what happens at that point.”
Robinson meanwhile asked: “Aren’t warning shots illegal?”
“The right to defend themselves”
The video goes on to show former Secretary Pompeo arguing that “Americans ought to have the right to defend themselves precisely the way that the Constitution and our founders understood it.”
“Somehow, the idea that President Biden gets to decide precisely which firearms we ought to have and precisely how we ought to protect our home and our family is absolutely ludicrous,” Pompeo said, according to the Examiner.
Later in the video, Jordan takes aim at John Kerry — Biden’s so-called “climate czar,” the Examiner reports — after a clip shows Kerry referring to non-existent “AR-16s.” Jordan says: “In other words, the guy who flies around the world in his private jet lecturing us about climate change is now telling us that we’re going to get rid of a gun that doesn’t exist. Oh, you know, just brilliant.”
Cruz, for his part, argues in the video that Biden and other Democrat gun control advocates “want to disarm you, not because you’re violent, not because you’re a criminal, but because you are a free and independent American.” According to the Examiner, the senator adds: “We’re going to defend our liberty, despite their lies.”
The NRA’s video comes as Democrats continue to push for gun control, particularly in the wake of recent shootings in Colorado and Georgia. House Democrats have already passed a measure expanding background checks for gun purchases, as USA Today notes, and many on the left are now trying to push a ban on “assault rifles.” It appears unlikely, however, that any of these attempts stand a chance of overcoming the Senate filibuster.
