Fox News’ Tucker Carlson stunned viewers Friday with his harsh assessment of President Joe Biden and his handling of the U.S. withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan.
Speaking on the latest edition of his self-titled Fox News show, Carlson said “Biden is not capable of running the country.” According to Carlson, the chaos in Afghanistan has proven this, if it wasn’t proven already.
Carlson even went so far as to call Biden “senile.”
“Any decent person feels sorry for Biden,” he said, according to Fox.
“The president in crisis”
The Fox host also called out those close to the president for letting him get this far. “In the months before last November’s election, Biden’s own family knew perfectly well that he was in profound cognitive decline,” Carlson said. “They were worried about it,” he claimed.
“But they did nothing to stop Biden from running for president,” Carlson added, as Fox reported. “Now, it’s obvious to the rest of the country.”
The Afghanistan debacle also makes clear, according to Carlson, that Biden won’t be calling the shots anymore.
“All we can say for certain at this point is that Joe Biden won’t be making any of the big decisions going forward,” Carlson claimed, according to Fox. “Biden isn’t capable of being the president in crisis.”
“Things are changing”
As for who will be pulling the strings if Biden hands off the reins, Carlson wasn’t sure. “But it’s clear if you watch closely that things are changing very fast in Washington,” he said, charging that those close to Biden “are moving away from him” as he faces backlash over the Afghanistan withdrawal — and “in ways that are not subtle.”
“Some of Biden’s most senior appointees are contradicting him in public,” Carlson noted, according to a transcript from Breitbart.
The Fox host explained:
Just hours after Joe Biden assured us that things were fine in Afghanistan, for example, Lloyd Austin, his defense secretary, described the situation there as a disaster. And then Austin repeated it, for emphasis. Others are doing the same thing.
Indeed, it seems the walls are closing in on Biden as Kabul remains under Taliban control. And if the president’s plummeting approval ratings are any indication, Tucker Carlson isn’t the only one taking notice.
