One of the main reasons Hillary was not elected president was simply because people did not like her… and she knew it.
In a new book revealing inside details of the Clinton presidential campaigns, author Amy Chozick stated, “You know, I [Hillary] am getting pretty tired of hearing about how nobody likes me.”
The Tell All
Amy Chozick had the not so desirable duty of trailing Hillary Clinton during both of her failed presidential bids.
During that time, she was privy to some rather interesting behind-the-scenes conversations that took place between Hillary and her staffers.
Her new book, Chasing Hillary: Ten Years, Two Presidential Campaigns, and One Intact Glass Ceiling, she reveals some of those moments to the public.
The fact that Hillary was not well-liked by Americans was a point that was seemingly made time and time again by Hillary staffers.
You did not have to be present when Hillary made that statement to hear the frustration in her voice.
And, it was not apparent then, it surely was in her follow up comment.
Clinton said to no one in particular, “Oh, what’s the point? They’re never going to like me.”
Can’t Change People’s Minds
Even though Hillary knew people did not like her, she seemed content to just let it lie.
She had conceded there was nothing she would ever be able to do that could win over voters that did not already think favorably of her.
That same sentiment seemed to run through her campaign officers as well.
Podesta was quoted as saying, “I remember no one trusted Bill Clinton, and he won twice.”
As it would turn out, it was a colossal mistake on the part of her campaign to not work on her image more.
While Trump gradually won more people over and obviously won the election because of it, Hillary just continued to spin her wheels.
Her hubris got in the way of reality, thankfully, for all of us.
