We seem to find out more news monitoring social media these days than we do monitoring news channels.
That is exactly how the announcement of the death of Olivia Newton-John’s brother, Hugh, was revealed on Thursday.
The actress wrote:
Years of Decline
What killed the actress’ brother, we still don’t know.
However, according to Newton-John’s post, her brother’s health had been declining for years.
Newton-John went on to describe her brother as a kind and generous man that was well-respected, admired, and loved by not only friends and family, but also by students and co-workers.
More Health Problems
Sadly, health problems were not limited to Hugh. The 70-year-old actress and singer revealed her own health challenges several months ago on social media.
Newton-John found out that she was beginning her third battle with cancer. This time doctors found a tumor at the base of her spine.
Her story is eerily reminiscent of Farrah Fawcett’s health crisis.
Fawcett had traveled to Germany for an experimental surgery to remove a tumor only to find out more tumors grew after the first one had been removed.
Fawcett used every treatment available to fight off death.
Newton-John is apparently going down a similar path. She announced she is not only using traditional medicine, but anything else she can get her hands on that has a remote chance of beating the disease.
Her first two battles were with breast cancer and a lump in her shoulder that was discovered when she was in a 2013 car accident.
