News station puts Biden’s photo up while discussing an elderly man accused of inappropriately touching an underage girl: video

A local Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, television news program just made a huge blunder involving President Joe Biden.

The Washington Examiner reports that a video has gone viral of WTAE Channel 4 news putting Biden’s picture on the screen while talking about an elderly man accused of inappropriately touching an underage girl.

You can watch the clip for yourself here:

That’s a big “oops”

At the start of the video, a news anchor is discussing a robbery that took place at a Giant Eagle store in Squirrel Hill, Pittsburg.

“It’s not clear what may have been taken, and no arrests have been made,” a male anchor could be heard saying as video from the area is shown on the screen. From there, the camera transitions to the news studio as a female anchor takes over.

“A 71-year-old man is accused of inappropriately touching a 12-year-old girl at the Walmart in West Mifflin Sunday Afternoon,” she said.

As the anchor said, “a 71-year-old man,” Biden’s smiling picture was put up on the left side of the screen. It appears that this was the photo that the outlet was going to use to advertise Biden’s State of the Union address, although the graphic itself was not finished.

Towards the end of the anchor’s statement, the camera briefly switches to a man with a troubled look on his face before returning to the female anchor, this time without Biden’s picture on the screen.

“Freudian slip?”

The accusation itself, of a man inappropriately touching an underage girl, is certainly not a joking matter. But, many social media users did decide to have some fun with the clip.

“This was either a huge Freudian slip or there is a backstage hand that is my hero!” one Twitter user wrote. This user was likely referring to the fact that Biden has been heavily criticized for touching men and women, boys and girls, in a manner that many would, at least, call inappropriate. Biden, of course, has argued against such characterizations.

Another Twitter user wrote, “Omg! That’s tooo funny! That they thought he was only 71.”

It has yet to be reported whether WTAE Channel 4 has addressed the matter.
