An incident early on Thursday morning at the Los Angeles hotel Chateau Marmont has sparked new concerns about Britney Spears' mental health.
Spears left the hotel barefoot and wrapped in a blanket, apparently topless and wearing only underwear and clutching a pillow to her chest, according to photos taken at the scene. She had her security around her, but not first responders.
Reports that she had a fight with her boyfriend (or ex-boyfriend) Paul Richard Soliz, who was staying at the hotel with her, were supported by her disheveled, scraped and bruised appearance.
Spears said the news was "fake," however.
It's not clear whether Soliz harmed Spears or if the wounds were self-inflicted during the incident.
TMZ reported that police were called late Wednesday night about a woman matching Spears' description harassing hotel staff and guests. When officers arrived, they found no problems and left.
Emergency services later received a call at 12:42 a.m. about a woman injured. An ambulance got to the hotel around 1 a.m, but no one was transported anywhere and emergency personnel left at 1:17 a.m.
Spears initially posted on Instagram that the photos were "mostly body doubles" and that she's "getting stronger every day."
She soon removed that post and replaced it with a similar one that read in part, "I twisted my ankle" and "paramedics showed up at my door illegally."
"They never came in my room but I felt completely harassed. I'm moving to Boston !!! Peace [peace hand sign emoji]," she wrote.
Other guests at the hotel reported that Spears and Soliz were drinking heavily and that she was screaming and out of control before the paramedics were called.
Soliz has a police record with multiple felonies. He worked as a maintenance worker at Spears' house starting in 2022.
Sources say the two have been on again, off again since they initially dated. Spears claimed she was single in February, but sources said the two were still together at that time.
Spears had a mental breakdown in 2007 and had treatment for her mental health issues at that time. After her treatment, her father was made the conservator of her affairs, which lasted until 2021 when there was a public outcry for the arrangement to be dissolved.
