The Democratic governor of New Jersey is refusing to accept any migrants from New York, the Washington Examiner reports.
New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy (D) said as much in comments made to New Jersey 12 on Thursday.
"I don’t see any scenario where we’re going to be able to take in a program in Atlantic City or frankly elsewhere in the state," Murphy said.
He added:
We are already seeing folks in New Jersey that have probably swelled into New Jersey from New York or other locations. But, you need scale, enormous amount of federal support, resources that go beyond anything that we can afford. Putting everything else aside, I just don’t see it. I would suspect that that will continue to be the case.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D), in furtherance of the left's open borders agenda, summoned illegal immigrants to his city, and, now, Adams' decision is backfiring tremendously.
Since the spring of 2022, more than 100,000 immigrants have arrived in New York City. This has placed a huge strain on the city's resources, and, ultimately, on the taxpayer. With this has come much infighting among the New York politicians.
The bottom line is that New York can no longer handle all of the immigrants that are now there. So, the question has become, "What to do now?"
The administration of President Joe Biden appears to be thinking about how to relocate some of New York's immigrant population.
National Review reports:
On Wednesday, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) sent New York City mayor Eric Adams a list of nearly a dozen federally operated facilities that the beleaguered politician could use to temporarily relocate asylum seekers inundating the Big Apple.
Among the locations provided by the Biden administration to Admas were Schenectady Airport, Camp Smith, and the Atlantic City Airport.
This is what led to Murphy's remarks. He was asked about this possibility - of sending New York's immigrants to Atlantic City. Murphy's response, as shown above, is, essentially, that it is not going to happen.
Murphy - who we must remember is a Democrat - went further than just saying that his state cannot accept immigrants. He also suggested that America needs to secure its southern border.
"We’ve always been a nation of immigrants, but that doesn’t mean it can be the Wild West," Murphy said.
Murphy is now the latest Democrat to come out against Biden's open border agenda.
