Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is once again under scrutiny as new evidence has emerged calling into question her handling of classified information during her time in the Obama administration.
The FBI released 37 previously buried emails, and conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch cited these documents — which also reveal that Clinton used text messaging to conduct government business — in accusing her yet again of “blatant malfeasance.”
Pages of emails
According to a press release from Judicial Watch on Friday, “Judicial Watch today released 37 pages of new Clinton emails recently found by the FBI that show former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton used her unsecured, non-government email to transmit classified information.”
Clinton even communicated with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair using her personal email account. Those messages to Blair were confirmed to have contained classified information.
So far there has been no confirmation on how the emails were recovered by the FBI. The emails were made public by a lawsuit Judicial Watch had filed against the State Department.
The FBI has been less than clear about how many Clinton emails are recoverable. Initially, the FBI declared they had found all they could in 2018, but then more were found in early 2019, followed by the latest batch found in November of 2019.
Judicial Watch also pointed out that Clinton was less than truthful in 2014 about turning over all of her work-related emails to the State Department:
Clinton repeatedly stated that the 55,000 pages of documents she turned over to the State Department in December 2014 included all of her work-related emails. In response to a court order in another Judicial Watch case, she declared under penalty of perjury that she had “directed that all my emails on clintonemail.com in my custody that were or are potentially federal records be provided to the Department of State, and on information and belief, this has been done.”
Judicial Watch details all the instances in the 13 new emails showing that Hillary Clinton disregarded crucial safeguards and gave foreign agents a way to collect classified information. This all happened in her capacity as secretary of State.
This bombshell comes right after the news that the Justice Department is reportedly closing down an investigation into the Clinton Foundation and Hillary Clinton’s business dealings during her tenure at the State Department
Vindication for Republicans
Republicans were long ridiculed for spreading “conspiracy theories” about Clinton. Reality shows those that they were entirely justified.
Critics have long wanted to see Clinton held accountable for her suspect actions as secretary of State. It appeared to many that she essentially got off scot-free while lower-level officials were thrown under the bus. After Trump was elected, the nation’s attention was turned to the Mueller investigation, and scrutiny of Clinton’s activities seemed to wane.
However, Clinton’s time may finally be up. Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton declared that “These documents further underscore the need for a fresh, unbiased and thorough criminal investigation into Clinton’s blatant malfeasance – and the related DOJ, FBI, and State Department cover-up.”
