Dr. Ben Carson just suggested that President Joe Biden has signs of dementia, the Daily Caller reported.
Carson, these days, might be better known as a Republican politician, who served as the U.S. Secretary of House and Urban Development during the administration of former President Donald Trump.
But, Carson is also a retired neurosurgeon. And, he wasn’t just your average neurosurgeon, either – if there is such a thing as an average neurosurgeon. Carson was a highly-respected pioneer in the field.
The bottom line is that Carson’s opinion on Biden’s mental capacity deserves a heck of a lot more weight than your average politician.
Carson’s informal diagnosis
It came during an interview that Carson recently did with the Daily Caller. There, Carson stated that Biden’s aggressive defensiveness about his mental fitness is a typical sign of the “early stages of decline.”
“That’s so typical of people in early stages of decline, to become aggressive and very defensive about who they are,” Carson said. “It tells you that they know a little bit about what’s going on. They don’t want you to know.”
Carson, during the interview, pointed to several other signs of Biden’s mental decline as well. These include not being aware of his surroundings, being confused, and not being able to “screen” what he says before he says it.
Carson even called Biden’s situation “sad,” and said that he “actually feels sorry for him.”
Carson is not the first doctor-turned-politician who has raised concerns about Biden’s mental fitness for office. Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX), the former White House physician for both the administrations of former presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump, has also expressed concerns about Biden’s mental fitness – or lack thereof.
On top of this, polls have shown that a majority of Americans are similarly concerned about Biden’s mental health.
There have, accordingly, been many calls for Biden to undergo a cognitive assessment. But, thus far, Biden has managed to avoid such an exam, at one point, asking, “Why the hell would I take a test?”
Concern about Biden’s fitness office is one of the main reasons why many – including a significant percentage of Democrats – don’t want Biden to seek reelection in 2024. Biden, nevertheless, insists that he will.
