Only days into her role as the new House speaker, Nancy Pelosi has clearly lost her mind — and her career is collapsing around her.
During a presentation on border security by Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, Pelosi interrupted with an absurd statement to the DHS head: “I reject your facts.”
So Much for Bipartisan
Remember Pelosi’s speech during her swearing-in ceremony?
She promised to work in a bipartisan way to do what is best for Americans.
Well, that lasted all of one day.
Now, we are once again seeing Pelosi’s true colors.
Secretary Nielson did not offer up the facts Pelosi wanted, so she simply dismissed them as false.
Indeed, the numbers didn’t suit the Democrat narrative, so she flat out called Nielsen a liar.
The Numbers
But Pelosi’s denials don’t make the numbers any less real.
Border officials have apprehended some 3,000 people with terrorist ties.
Last year, they also apprehended roughly 17,000 criminals at the border.
Technically, every person crossing the border is a criminal, so that number is probably tenfold.
Lingering Doubts
But Pelosi was not the only one doubting the numbers presented by Nielsen.
Sen. Dick Durbin, a Democrat from Illinois, also said that “it was not a credible presentation” from the DHS secretary.

“At a time when we have the lowest level of apprehensions at the border – stopping people from coming in illegally – the lowest level historically, she is saying that we have all these terrorists and criminals and all these people on their way in,” Durbin said.
But his comments weren’t based on any actual information, either.
Ongoing Crisis
Evidently, Secretary Nielsen has had enough.
After Pelosi’s outburst, the DHS head took to Twitter to express her frustration, writing:
The crisis is not going away-it is getting worse. The status quo in funding & authorities for #DHS is irresponsible & makes our country less secure. Kicking the can down the road is not the answer. I look forward to engaging w Members who want to listen & be part of the solution.

Nielsen is absolutely right.
If the Democrats don’t want to listen and “be part of the solution,” Trump can solve the border crisis without them.
While Trump has said he doesn’t want to declare a national emergency and build the wall with funds from the Department of Defense, the president’s hand may be forced sooner than later by Democrats like Pelosi.
There just aren’t many options left.
