Despite the surplus of high-profile young Democrats in the House, Speaker Nancy Pelosi is still the standard-bearer for the Democrat party. But is something wrong with her?
In just the latest in a string of bizarre incidents, Pelosi appeared to suffer a minor mental breakdown on camera during a public bill signing.
A little late for that
Pelosi was speaking at the signing of the compromise border security bill that passed the Senate and House on Thursday. Things got weird quickly.
According to CBS News:
After the signing, Pelosi addressed the crowd of reporters and politicians on Capitol Hill.
“Happy Valentine’s Day. We saluted our victory – or the victory for the American people – earlier with chocolate. Chocolate from California, I call it the champagne of chocolate. So again, I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving. You should go home now to your loved ones,” she said.
Pelosi didn’t correct herself, but those standing behind her noticed the gaffe. CBS reports:
Those standing behind the speaker immediately reacted to Pelosi’s comment, including California Rep. Pete Aguilar who laughed and said “Thanksgiving?”

Not a one-time thing
Pelosi has a history of perplexing public appearances.
Just before her “Thanksgiving” gaffe, Pelosi held an excruciating weekly briefing that featured multiple gaffes.
The American Mirror reports:
Earlier in the day, the House Speaker gave her weekly brief press conference, she could be seen suffering brain freezes, confusing millions and billions, and at one point, caught herself holding up only five fingers while talking about six bills.
Pelosi struggled to identify the name of the committee she was speaking about – and then it got really bad. The Mirror continues:
Speaking off the top of her head proved to be difficult, as she stopped to search her notes for what she was supposed to say.
Pelosi said “sentence” instead of “census,” and “far” instead of “fair.”
While talking about the amount of money Democrats want to spend, she mistakenly said “$1 billion” instead of “$17 billion,” then said “$9 million” before changing it to “$9 billion”.
After ticking off the list of bills Democrats want to pass, she said, “We have the six appropriations bills,” before realizing she was holding up only five fingers.
Looking at her hand, she held up her other thumb to complete her point — but that devolved into another brain freeze and struggles to speak.
So what is really going on?
The most charitable interpretation is that Pelosi is a muddled speaker and thinker, to the point where she can barely articulate a cogent thought.
The worst case scenario is that Pelosi is battling something more malignant. We wish the speaker well in regards to her health.
