Last week, it was decided that the services of House impeachment witness and National Security Council (NSC) staffer Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman would no longer be needed at the White House.
According to Breitbart, the news of Vindman’s firing infuriated Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who called it a “shameless loss” and “brazen act of retaliation.”
Creating Democrat outrage
The moment Vindman’s ouster was announced, outrage ensued. Pelosi soon issued a statement on the matter, reiterating that no matter what Trump does, he will remain “impeached forever.”
She then went on to laud Vindman as a hero, saying that “his brave testimony showed America that right still matters.”
“The firing of this patriotic soldier is a sad and shameless loss for America’s security. History will remember Lieutenant Colonel Vindman as an American hero,” Pelosi added.
But while nobody here is calling into question Vindman’s actions on the battlefield, where he earned a Purple Heart, his time on the NSC is another matter entirely.
Vindman’s file is littered with, shall we say, less-than-flattering reviews from his superior officers. He was also known to circumvent his chain of command and for being rather lax with classified information.
This all came right from Vindman’s own mouth during the House’s impeachment hearings. That is what got Vindman fired — not his testimony, and surely not his performance on the battlefield.
From rat to martyr
Lt. Col. Vindman is now apparently the poster child for Democrats. During Friday night’s Democratic primary debate, former Vice President Joe Biden tried to rally the nation to support Vindman, but even that was a hard sell.
Biden just had probably his most memorable moment of this campaign, calling on attendees at the #democraticdebate to stand in support of Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, who was fired today from the National Security Council. pic.twitter.com/XcoXgsk9N6

Reporters called it Joe’s shining moment, but the liberal crowd was reluctant to stand and support Vindman, and only after Biden forced the point did they grant the former vice president his moment.
Pelosi, Biden, and the rest of the Democrats can whine about this all they want, but the fact of the matter is that Trump has the absolute discretion to hire and fire members of his cabinet based on their performance — and that is exactly what he did.
