Musk signals agreement to expose Twitter’s ‘internal discussions’ on decision to censor NY Post Hunter Biden laptop stories

In October 2020, just before the election, a decision was made at Twitter to censor and silence the New York Post and its initial bombshell reports exposing the scandalous contents of Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop that seemingly incriminated then-candidate Joe Biden.

Twitter is now owned by tech billionaire Elon Musk, an advocate for free speech and transparency, who indicated this week that he was open to publicly revealing the “internal discussions” behind that decision to censor the Post’s reports about the Biden laptop, Breitbart reported.

Musk seeks to “restore public trust” in Twitter

It was on Wednesday that Turning Point USA’s Alex Lorusso, whose @ALX account was only recently reinstated after having been permanently banned years earlier, raised the prospect of exposing the internal deliberations at Twitter about the Hunter Biden laptop story censorship for the sake of transparency.

Lorusso tweeted, “Raise your hand if you think @ElonMusk should make public all internal discussions about the decision to censor the @NYPost’s story on Hunter Biden’s laptop before the 2020 Election in the interest of Transparency.”

In reply, Musk wrote, “This is necessary to restore public trust.”

“Transparency will earn the trust of the people”

A somewhat similar, albeit more generalized plea and promise for more transparency involving Musk took place earlier that day when a “random” user commented about the prior unfair application of the platform’s rules in a reply to a poll Musk had posted about a proposed “general amnesty” for previously suspended accounts that hadn’t violated any actual laws.

The user wrote, “Well whatever it decides to do, twitter should be clear and consistent about its rules and penalties for breaking them, enforcement should be unbiased, and the mechanisms of enforcement shouldn’t be easily abused by people who have an agenda.”

In reply to that, the new Twitter CEO tweeted, “The more I learn, the worse it gets. The world should know the truth of what has been happening at Twitter. Transparency will earn the trust of the people.”

The people deserve to know the truth

The Daily Caller reported on Musk’s exchange with Lorusso and reminded its readers of how Twitter had locked the New York Post’s account for a period of time and prevented other users from accessing or sharing that outlet’s stories about the Hunter Biden laptop.

That was just one part of what appeared to be a coordinated effort among the major social media platforms and mainstream media outlets to censor and summarily dismiss as “Russian disinformation” what turned out to be accurate information that most of those same previously dismissive media outlets have since confirmed as true.
