The creator of Modern Family just got his pockets picked, but it could have been far worse.
In lieu of spousal support, Steve Levitan’s wife will get about $4 million per year from various projects and an even split on current assets.
Krista and Steve Levitan had what is virtually impossible to have in Hollywood: a long-lasting marriage — at least on the surface.
That all came to an abrupt end in 2016 when after 23 years of marriage, Krista filed for a divorce.
With no prenuptial agreement in place, Steve Levitan looked to be about to lose everything.
While the divorce has been anything but amicable, the couple seems to have come to an agreement both of them can live with, at least for the immediate future.
According to reports, the couple will split the proceeds from the sale of their home.
That alone will net them both about $20 million each.
They will also divvy up the bank accounts, reported to be well into eight figures.
In addition to that bounty, the couple will make an even split of other properties and cars owned by them jointly.
On top of that, Krista will apparently draw a “salary” against projects currently in the works, including Modern Family.
Some of the other projects Levitan has been involved with are Just Shoot Me!, LA to Las Vegas, and Back To You.
Her take for the year is expected to be more than $4 million annually.
So, as long as the money is flowing, Levitan will not have to dig into his pocket any deeper.
