Family members speak out after 24-year-old model found dead outside LA hospital

A 24-year-old model named Christy Giles was found dead after her lifeless body was reportedly dumped outside a Los Angeles, California hospital Saturday evening by masked men in a car with no license plates. The friend she had been partying with the night before was left hours later at a different hospital in a coma, and was found to have heroin in her system.

KABC reported that Giles’ husband, Jan Cilliers, said there is video footage indicating the same masked individuals dumped the bodies of both women at the separate hospitals. Cilliers believes that foul play was involved.

Husband investigates

According to Cilliers, he traveled up to San Francisco to visit with his father on Friday, while his wife went out partying with two other friends, one of whom was designer Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola, who is now listed in critical condition in a coma at L.A.’s Kaiser Permanente hospital.

The other friend, who has not been named, went home early while Giles and Cabrales-Arzola continued to dance. She insisted both women were doing fine when she left.

Cilliers, for his part, spoke extensively with the Daily Mail about what he suspects was the rape and murder of his wife. He explained that he tracked her location through shared cell phone data and recovered her final text messages via iCloud, which were apparently sent in the early morning hours on Saturday and showed she wanted to leave wherever she was.

Based on the locations of her phone, as well as accounts provided by other sources including the friend who left the night early, Cilliers believes the two women were essentially abducted, drugged, and sexually assaulted by men the Daily Mail described as having ties to the “underground” pornography industry, then were left at the hospitals, presumably after overdosing.

Cilliers has since hired a private investigator and established a GoFundMe account — to cover the cost of the investigation and his wife’s funeral, as well medical costs for both women — and is intent on tracking down and bringing to justice the individuals he suspects of playing a key role in his wife’s untimely death.

“Would have fought like hell”

Giles’ mother, Dusty Giles, a nurse who lives near Birmingham, Alabama, shares Cilliers’ belief about foul play being involved in Christy’s death.

“My daughter is a military police officer’s daughter, her father Leslie served in Iraq,” Dusty Giles said in an extensive interview with The Sun. “My daughters have been taught literally how to kill a person with a ballpoint pen.”

She went on: “My daughter would have fought like hell and from my understanding from speaking to the emergency room doctor and nurse, they did not see any visible bruises, scratches, or any indication of an altercation.”

She expressed confidence that “the only way that these men would have kept my daughter and Hilda for over 10 hours would be by giving them drugs, maybe tying them up.” Both Cilliers and Giles keyed in on the reported presence of heroin in Cabrales-Arzola’s system, a drug that, according to the husband’s remarks to KABC, “is nothing that either of those girls would ever do, not voluntarily.”

Family members are said to be awaiting the results of a toxicology report and rape kit test for Giles to confirm their suspicions about her tragic death.
