Add this to the list of liberal celebrities who think it’s ok to wish violence on the president, and who directly contribute to the incivility of our political discourse.
Singer and actress Bette Midler sent out a tweet this past weekend, rooting for the hanging of President Trump and his family.
“Trump Trump Trump Bob Mueller’s marching, Trump Trump Trump And here is why Trump Trump Trump He’s gonna hang you Hang the fam’ly GOOD AND HIGH!,” she tweeted on Friday.
A quick look down Midler’s Twitter feed shows an obvious and ignorant obsession with President Trump.
It is filled with tweets criticizing the president, while making massive oversights in regard to the conduct of Democrats.
This is nothing more than yet another liberal entertainer using her platform to force feed liberal ideology on her fans.
Some fans pushed back, however. One Twitter user replied, “I believe that is a threat. Maybe the secret service will thump thump thump on your door.”
Another complained, “If your not part of the solution you are part of the problem and I see you as a big problem with all your hate!”
“I’m not a big fan of Trump either but this is way too much. If someone from the right did this they would be plastered all over the news,” wrote another Twitter user.
Not so long ago, a tweet like the one Midler sent out about the president would have resulted in a visit from the Secret Service.
The Secret Service is not so much concerned with the specific social media threat as they are about the possibility of inciting violence in an unhinged follower.
Midler is not alone in this, either.
It was only last week that comedian Tom Arnold made another social media threat against the President, earning himself a personal visit from two Secret Service agents.
Not long after the election, pop singer Madonna and actress Ashley Judd made threats against the president.
Actor and director Robert DeNiro has done this more than a few times, even saying he would punch Trump right in the face.
Just out of curiosity, can anyone remember a conservative actor publicly threatening personal violence against Obama?
As critical as people like singer Ted Nugent and actor James Woods were of the administration, they never actually threatened physical harm against Obama.
Sadly, today Trump-hating entertainers are celebrated as social heroes rather than the cowards and manipulators they actually are.
