During a recent appearance on the Today show, Michelle Obama surprised everyone with her sentiments about former President George W. Bush.
The former first lady told NBC’s hosts of the former president: “I love him to death.”
“He’s a wonderful man,” she added. “He’s a funny man.”
Partners in Crime
Today hosts and Obama were discussing a moment that occurred during last month’s funeral of Sen. John McCain.
President Bush was getting a cough drop from his wife, Laura, when Michelle nudged him and said she wanted one.
Bush quickly grabbed an extra cough drop from his wife and handed it over.
Looking back, Mrs. Obama was endearing to the former president.
She said that she and him are always seated next to each other, due to protocols, when the former presidents are attending events.
Apparently, in the process, they have become best buds, so much so that she referred to him as her “partner in crime” at these types of events.
“I didn’t realize at the time that anybody noticed what we were doing… He is my partner in crime at every major thing where all the formers gather… I love him to death.” @MichelleObama talks about George W. Mixed Message
Between her stops at morning talk shoes, Obama has been traveling the country in what she calls a “nonpartisan” effort to register people to vote.
But with mostly Democrats on her organization’s payroll, it’s clear that there’s something else going on here.
It’s good to hear her speak kindly of the former president, but don’t let it distract you from her quiet efforts to undermine the Trump administration.
