There was a time, not long ago, that more than a few pundits believed former First Lady Michelle Obama would eventually be the Democratic presidential nominee, given that President Biden was set to be replaced and Vice President Kamala Harris was extremely unpopular in the party.
Obviously, that never came to fruition, and Harris ultimately became the nominee, being artificially propped up by the mainstream media and high-profile Democrats who pretended that she's the savior of the party.
The best Democrats could hope for at this stage in the game would be that Michelle Obama steps out to campaign for Harris.
But according to Breitbart, that's not happening, sources say.
A CNN writer said earlier this week that he confirmed the former first lady will not be stepping out to campaign for Harris, which presumably is a massive blow to her campaign.
“Former first lady Michelle Obama, who delivered a rallying cry speech in Chicago, is not expected to campaign, instead sticking with her officially non-partisan voter registration efforts,” CNN’s Edward-Isaac Dovere said.
Breitbart noted:
The revelation is yet another setback for Harris, who has been desperately trying to keep her surge of summer energy riding high into the fall — but not having the highly dynamic Michelle Obama out there for her in a big way is clearly a disappointment for Democrats.
It was also noted that it could mark a trend of other high-profile Democrats doing the bare minimum to show some level of support without risking their neck.
And while Democrats will deny it, it's obvious why high-profile Democrats will not risk their street cred to back Harris, who was deeply unpopular with the party just a few short weeks ago until she was coronated.
Michelle Obama gave Harris a glowing endorsement during the Democratic National Convention, but clearly doesn't feel strong enough to hit the campaign trail.
The Obamas have been more interested in simply driving votes to the polls in November, starting a number of initiatives to make that happen, especially through social media.
Their goal is to reach younger voters.
Breitbart noted:
“The first taste of that will come next Tuesday, for National Voter Registration Day: Obama already recorded videos and other content in Chicago and at home in Washington that his office estimates will be hitting 30 million users across social media, aimed at younger voters.
Only time will tell if their efforts pay off.
