Mexican migrant previously deported five times charged and held following fatal hit-and-run accident that killed a young Texas boy

It has been argued by some that President Joe Biden's "open borders" policies and lax enforcement of existing border security and immigration laws have placed innocent American citizens at grave risk of being injured or killed by criminal illegal immigrants.

That argument was sadly bolstered last week when a 10-year-old Texas boy was struck and killed in a hit-and-run car accident by an illegal migrant from Mexico who'd previously been deported back to his home country five separate times, Breitbart reported.

Critics would assert that Biden bears some culpability in the murder of the young boy, given the likelihood that his unnecessarily tragic death might have been avoided if the president had more vigorously enforced the nation's numerous strict border security and immigration laws that are already on the books.

Innocent boy killed by illegal migrant in hit-and-run accident

On Thursday, local CBS affiliate KOSA reported that a 10-year-old student walking home from school in Midland, Texas, was stuck and critically injured by a truck driven by a man who immediately fled the scene but was later apprehended by the local police.

The young boy was airlifted in critical condition to a hospital in Lubbock but succumbed to his grievous injuries on Friday and passed away.

The driver, meanwhile, was initially criminally charged with "collision involving serious bodily injury," but that charge was later upgraded to "hit-and-run, accident causing death."

The outlet further noted that, per the Midland County Sheriff, the driver was identified as Rogelio Ortiz-Olivas, 50, a Mexican national who'd illegally crossed the border at least seven times and had been deported five times after voluntarily returning to Mexico after his first illegal cross-border entry.

Illegal migrant assailant criminally charged, held on ICE detainer

Local media outlets KMID/KPEJ jointly reported on Monday that Ortiz-Olivas was being held in custody on both a $110,000 bond as well as a detainer issued by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.

In addition to the charge of Hit and Run Accident Causing Death, the five-time deported migrant was also hit with a driving while intoxicated charge.

As for the innocent 10-year-old victim killed by Ortiz-Olivas, he was identified as Alex "AJ" Wise, Jr., and was described by family members as the "sweetest, funniest" young boy that anyone could ever meet.

The school he attended, IDEA Travis of the Midland ISD, held a special memorial service in AJ's honor on Monday that involved a balloon release to celebrate his brief life. The school's principal, Illiana Bermea, told the outlet, "This has been very difficult news for the entire Travis family to receive. We are working to process this tragedy and provide support to all who need it."

Support offered for the boy's grieving family and friends

KOSA reported Friday that a joint statement was released following AJ's death by the school and the district that said, "IDEA and Midland Independent School District are mourning the loss of one of our IDEA Travis students after a tragic incident near our school yesterday. Our thoughts and prayers are with the student’s family and loved ones."

"Counselors will be providing mental health support for students and staff on campus. As the safety of our students continues to be our number one priority, we are urging drivers to exercise caution when pedestrians are present to prevent tragedies," the statement added.

According to Breitbart, a GoFundMe account was established on behalf of AJ's family to help cover expenses, while a separate memorial fundraiser event was also scheduled for Saturday by the school to help support the grieving family following the unnecessary and untimely loss of the beloved little boy by way of the criminal acts of the five-times deported illegal immigrant.
