In a rare interview to promote her first memoir, Melania Trump shared some surprising details about her son Barron Trump's college life.
The former First Lady told Fox News that her son is living at the Trump Tower in New York, with Melania admitting she's not an "empty nester."
Barron started college last month at New York University's Stern School of Business, located in lower Manhattan.
Melania confirmed that Barron is living at Trump Tower, where the Trump family lived for many years before President Trump relocated to Mar-A-Lago in 2019.
“I could not say I’m an empty nester, I don’t feel that way,” Melania said.
Melania is known to be very close to Barron, her only son with Donald Trump. She endeavored to keep Barron out of the spotlight during his childhood, as his father's tumultuous political career brought a storm of controversy and threats to the Trump family.
But Melania said Barron made the decision to come back to New York after graduating high school in Florida.
“I raised Barron as [his] own person and give him his own ‘yes and nos’. I respect that, it was his decision to come here, that he wants to be [in] New York and study [in] New York and live in his home and I respect that.”
Since arriving at NYU, Barron has been spotted walking around campus while guarded by Secret Service agents.
Melania acknowledged that Barron's college experience is anything but typical, but she said her "admirable" son is having a "great experience."
"I’m very proud of what he grew up to. His strength, his intelligence, his knowledge, his kindness. It’s admirable. And he’s enjoying his college days. I hope he will have a great experience because his life is very different than any other 18 – 19 year-old child," she said.
Melania also shared her favorite things about her "very special" husband, whom she described as a "family man."
"His humor, his personality, his kindness—he is very special," she said.
Melania also said Donald wanted to have more than one child with her, but she was content with Barron.
“I was always perfectly fine. And Donald was encouraging to have more and I said I'm completely fine with one because it's very busy life. And I know how busy he is. And I'm in charge of everything. So, that's why it's just perfect,” Melania stated.
