When Rudy Giuliani spoke for the first lady, saying she believed her husband President Donald Trump over Stormy Daniels, it made national headlines for weeks.
But as it turns out, First Lady Melania Trump never spoke to Giuliani on this topic — and her office was not too happy that he portrayed himself as having discussed the matter with her.
When Giuliani made his statement, it seemed like he had personally spoken with Melania Trump about the situation.
But according to Mrs. Trump’s office, that did not take place.
What did happen, though, was that Melania Trump’s name was once again thrust into headlines — this time, about something she really doesn’t want to talk about.
But now, the first lady’s spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham, has ripped Giuliani for his statement, saying: “I don’t believe Mrs. Trump has ever discussed her thoughts on anything with Mr. Giuliani.”
After Melania’s office made its statement, the media immediately went after Giuliani for his comments.
Giuliani, however, doubled down on what he said.
The former New York mayor stated, “I don’t regret saying it because I believe it.”
He added, “I never interviewed Melania, there is no reason to.”
The bottom line here is that Giuliani destroyed his own credibility by making this statement.
He easily could have explained this, but by doubling down, he’s bringing a tinge of doubt to any statement he has made and will make, especially about this subject.
Still, after admitting he never interviewed the first lady, Giuliani quickly tried to deflect by going after Daniels and her credibility.
He was asked to explain his stance, and the former mayor wasn’t shy about sharing his opinion about the porn industry, where Daniels made her claim to fame.
“I’m sorry, I don’t respect a porn star the way I respect a career woman or a woman of substance or a woman who has great respect for herself as a woman and as a person and isn’t going to sell her body for sexual exploitation,” Giuliani said.
Do everyone a favor Rudy, and stay away from the microphones for a little while.
