‘Just another day and another attack’: Meadows brushes off Trump’s sister’s harsh criticism

“Just another day and another attack” against President Donald Trump … that is how Chief of Staff Mark Meadows is treating the recently-released remarks from Donald Trump’s sister.

“All he wants to do is appeal to his base. He has no principles. None. None,” Maryanne Trump Barry said of her brother, according to the Washington Post, which obtained audio clips of her remarks.

Secret recordings

The audio recording of Trump’s older sister, a retired judge, was taken by Trump’s niece, Mary Trump, the daughter of Fred Trump Jr. Mary Trump published a dark tell-all about the Trump family in July, titled “Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man.”

According to Politico, Mary Trump had secretly recorded her aunt for more than a dozen hours in 2018 and 2019.

This is something Meadows pointed out, stating, “I mean, what family member tapes another family member for 15 hours secretly?”

The media, of course, was happy to run with the audio as a damning statement about the president.

The president, who is mourning the death of his brother Robert, did not seem too concerned about the report, saying, “Every day it’s something else, who cares. I miss my brother, and I’ll continue to work hard for the American people. Not everyone agrees, but the results are obvious. Our country will soon be stronger than ever before.”

President Trump’s brother, Robert Trump, passed away on August 15, and the Trump family held a funeral for him at the White House on Friday. According to Meadows, Maryanne did not attend the funeral. “‘I’ve never met the judge. I was at the funeral the other day, I was hoping to meet her there. She didn’t show up for her brother’s funeral,” he said, according to the Daily Mail.

The family squabble

Much of what Mary Trump has stated in her recently-published tell-all book about the Trump family sounds like family gossip that goes on in too many homes around the country. Mary Trump is clearly doing this to hurt Trump in the upcoming election, something else that Meadows addressed.

“This is politics as usual by a niece that was written out of a will, that apparently just has an ax to grind because she wants Joe Biden to be president,” Meadows said.

“I can tell you this — that this president each and every day is not only well-prepped, but does more than any president that I have ever been able to have the privilege of researching and reading about in terms of wanting to make sure that we advance critical, critical agendas for the hard-working American people on Main Street,” he said.

With how this election cycle has gone so far, it would not be surprising to see an estranged Trump family member doing campaign ads for Joe Biden. Nothing would shock us at this point.
