McEnany blasts top Biden aide for undermining calls for ‘unity’ with vulgar attack on Republicans

While Joe Biden may be calling for unity in the wake of the 2020 presidential election, it seems not everyone in his camp has fully embraced that messaging.

White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany responded with a fiery tweet Thursday after one of Biden’s top staffers referred to congressional Republicans as “a bunch of f***ers.”

Did someone say unity?

According to the Daily Caller, the vulgar remarks from Jen O’Malley Dillon, Biden’s 2020 campaign manager and his pick to serve as White House deputy chief of staff, came during an interview published Tuesday by Glamour magazine.

Dillon had reportedly been asked about the prospects for “compromise” in Washington going forward.

“Frankly, that’s what we need. The president-elect was able to connect with people over this sense of unity,” she replied.

“In the primary, people would mock [Biden], like, ‘You think you can work with Republicans?’ I’m not saying they’re not a bunch of f***ers. Mitch McConnell is terrible,” Dillon added, referring to the Senate majority leader.

“But this sense that you couldn’t wish for that, you couldn’t wish for this bipartisan ideal? He rejected that,” she said of Biden. “From start to finish, he set out with this idea that unity was possible, that together we are stronger, that we, as a country, need healing, and our politics needs that too.”

The left never learns

Dillion’s explicit derision of congressional Republicans, juxtaposed with wishful thinking for bipartisanship, set off a firestorm of controversy across the political spectrum, and the Biden staffer later tried to walk back her comments — albeit without an apology.

“I used some words that I probably could have chosen better,” she said Thursday, according to the Daily Caller.

But the damage was already done — and Dillon’s comments are only making it harder for Republicans to believe that Dems like Biden are ready to unify moving forward.

Chief among Dillon’s detractors was McEnany, who reminded her followers on Twitter that Democrats also referred to conservatives as “deplorable” at one time — and it seems they haven’t changed their tune over the last four years.
