McEnany shreds ‘revisionist history’ in Biden’s speech about COVID pandemic

President Joe Biden delivered a primetime address Thursday night to mark the one-year anniversary of the date when the World Health Organization (WHO) belatedly declared the new coronavirus that emerged from China to be a dangerous global pandemic.

Biden’s speech was filled with disingenuous half-truths and “revisionist history,” which prompted an excoriating takedown of his remarks the next morning by former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany, RedState reported.

McEnany, who is now a Fox News contributor, joined Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo on Friday’s edition of “Mornings with Maria” to dismantle the president’s rambling, if bordering on authoritarian, address to the nation.

Biden’s dishonest speech

In his primetime speech, Biden seemed to accuse his predecessor, former President Donald Trump, of doing nothing to address the pandemic, claiming that the virus “was met with silence and spread unchecked.” He also appeared to assume all of the credit for the multiple vaccines that were developed and initially distributed thanks to the Trump administration.

Biden also avoided any mention of the virus originating in communist China — ironically, while emulating that regime with authoritarian pronouncements about what Americans can and can’t do, until he says so — or the manner in which the WHO attempted to provide cover for China in the early months of 2020.

McEnany would have none of that, though, and shredded the current president for “engaging in revisionist history” with regard to the coronavirus, according to Fox Business.

Biden “engaging in revisionist history”

“It was extraordinary, the denial of all that the previous administration had done before him,” McEnany said, and went on to note that several prominent liberal media outlets — including ABC News, The New York Times, and even The Washington Post — all noted that the three vaccines for which Biden had attempted to steal credit were funded, developed, and produced thanks to President Trump’s Operation Warp Speed.

“Three vaccines, not one, three vaccines in record time and manufacturing those vaccines at an industrial scale beforehand was a novel approach,” she continued. “But all of that denied by Biden, though acknowledged by the mainstream media, the liberal media, rather. It’s really interesting to watch.”

As for Trump’s supposed “silence” with regard to the pandemic, McEnany noted that it was Biden himself who smeared Trump’s January 31 travel ban against China — more than a month before the pandemic was officially declared — as “xenophobic” and unnecessary.

McEnany recounted, “Those early actions of the Trump administration came as the World Health Organization was carrying China’s water, lying about this having human-to-human transmission between people, slow walking that information to the world. And you have Joe Biden, who’s rejoining that organization, the very one that misled America and misled the world.

“But nevertheless, President Trump was taking action — the temporary shutdown. Joe Biden was still holding a rally in March. So he’s really engaging in revisionist history. But the American people are smart enough to see that,” she added.
