On Friday’s airing of Fox News’ The Five, a discussion ensued about Attorney General William Barr’s efforts to “investigate the investigators” and gather information on the origins of the false Trump-Russia collusion narrative that served as the basis for far-reaching investigations into Donald Trump.
Liberal co-host Juan Williams was predictably dismissive of those efforts by Barr, but co-host Dagen McDowell demolished his arrogant ignorance with a righteous rant detailing what was already known while also calling him out for placing his trust in the thoroughly dishonest establishment media.
Barr has the left worried
McDowell said of Democrats attacking Barr’s credibility, “They are trying to discredit him because they are worried, people who worked in the Obama administration, in the FBI and in the CIA and the intelligence community, they are worried.”
“Whether it’s Brennan or Comey or even subordinates of both of them. They are worried about what Bill Barr and John Durham and the Inspector General Michael Horowitz are going to find,” she continued.
Turning to Williams, McDowell said, “It’s not silliness,
“And you know why Hillary Clinton is being quiet about this? Because the (Democratic National Committee) and Hillary Clinton’s campaign paid for that dossier, which could be disinformation by Russia,” she said. “If you read the whole Mueller report, the whole Mueller report basically discredits big, big elements that were in that
Americans deserve answers
McDowell noted how fired FBI Director James Comey has previously attempted to claim ignorance about the dossier and its origins, despite his having been in charge.
“That is balderdash and hogwash and mm-hmm, we all know it,” she said.
Referencing a poll Williams had cited earlier, McDowell noted that the poll also showed 58% of Americans thought it was “somewhat likely” that the FBI had broken the laws in spying on the Trump campaign in 2016.
“The millions of Americans who don’t trust what went on in intelligence and FBI under the Obama administration, they deserve answers, and there is nothing wrong with a thorough look at it because it disrupts democracy in this country,” she said as she pounded the table for emphasis.
Williams remained dismissive and suggested all anybody needed to do was pick up a newspaper to figure out how the whole Russian collusion narrative began, but that assertion only caused McDowell to explode with indignation, and proclaim, “The press that lied to us for three years about Russia!?! Liars, all!”
Like most liberals, Williams doesn’t really want to know the full truth behind the Obama administration’s efforts to spy on and undermine Trump. But like most of everybody else, McDowell is insistent on finding out everything, whether Williams wants to go along with it or not.
