Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has some grand ideas for the Democratic Party.
But most of her ideas will never come to fruition — because Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has been tossing them right in the shredder when they make their way to the Senate, according to a new report from Politico.
History Repeating Itself
The danger our government faces when we have one party controlling the Senate and one controlling the House is that nothing ever seems to get done.
Democrats can whine about this all they want, but their leadership did the same thing to Republicans when they held the majority in the Senate.
The stagnation of our legislative branch was supposed to have been fixed with the election of Donald Trump.
Trump had relationships with some of the more influential Democrats, so he thought he could get everyone to work together. But his election had the opposite effect of what everyone initially thought.
Rather than work with Trump, Democrats have done nothing but obstruct this administration at every opportunity.
Republicans literally have no choice but to stonewall the Dems until they learn to play nice.
Dissent in the Ranks
Things have gotten so bad, that some of the more moderate Democrats are now starting to speak up.
They know Pelosi is only working on legislation that pushes the far-left agenda, which is just a waste of time, because any such legislation will die in the Senate.
Instead, Dems should be working on legislation to address bipartisan issues, like infrastructure and the opioid crisis.
“It’s time to move off the talking points and on to legislating,” Rep. Kurt Schrader (D-OR) said. “I haven’t heard about anything that deals with the economy or some of the other issues.”
In other words, Democrats are only passing legislation they hope will get them voted back in — even though they know it has no chance in the Senate.
They are purposely doing this so they can whine to their constituents that they tried their best, but Republicans didn’t help.
Voters are getting just as frustrated as these politicians, because we all want this country to move forward.
Thankfully, it appears as though public sentiment is starting to come around, because people are just sick and tired of Democrats posturing and repeating the same talking points they did in 2016.
If Pelosi refuses to work with this president, she will more than likely find herself handing that speaker gavel back over to a Republican very soon.
