Maxine Waters threatened with censure in the House after inflammatory comments

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) was threatened with censure and being removed from her position as House Financial Services Committee chairwoman following her comments inciting rioters, Breitbart reported.

Over the weekend, Waters told protesters in Minnesota to “stay on the street” and “get more confrontational” if former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin is acquitted in the killing of George Floyd. Waters’ comments were so beyond the pale that it prompted the judge in the Chauvin case to comment that the defense could have grounds to appeal based on her comments.

Now, House Republicans are moving to censure the congresswoman and remove her from her position in leadership.

Should face discipline

Democrats managed to impeach former President Donald  Trump because he encouraged his supporters to protest peacefully. Waters went a step further and actually encouraged violence and unrest.

If Trump could be impeached for simply encouraging his supporters to protest, Waters should face so much more for inciting a riot. While it is unlikely Waters will face serious consequences, her standing has been diminished.

Worse yet, Waters has become a liability to other Democrats who will now be associated with Waters and her comments when election season rolls around. In the Democrat Party, you will be protected unless your liability outweighs your value.

“I believe it rises to that level because Maxine Waters believes there’s value in violence,” said House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (D-CA). “This isn’t the first time she’s done something like this. Remember what she said for in the past administration, for people to get in their faces, to challenge everyone. And now, what she has said has even put doubt into a jury. You had a judge announce that it was wrong.”

McCarthy continued saying, “I know there’s probably 10 to 15 who would love to vote that way. It will all come down to the pressure of what Democrats will put on them to just try to vote to table it. Not even to have the discussion. And if they hold together, then they’re going to own what not only Maxine Waters has been saying, but what Tlaib and the others about removing police officers and others.”

Democrat disaster

The situation surrounding the trial of Chauvin has turned into a disaster for Democrats. Four months ago, they got to sit back and paint Republicans as the bad guy for protesting the election.

Now Democrats are having to deal with the likes of Waters making comments encouraging rioting and violence.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) weighed in on this issue, saying, “There are Democrats like Maxine Waters who are encouraging. They want to see more stores looted. They want to see more police cars firebombed. They want to see the violence because they think it serves their political ends.”

Americans are seeing that Democrats are the party of anarchy and chaos, and Republicans are maneuvering to capitalize on that fact. If Democrats continue to encourage violence and riots, there is a real chance that Republicans will destroy them in the midterms.
