Regardless of how many positive stories we here about our police officers, every bad story sets them significantly back.
Sadly, a police officer in Maryland has done exactly that after having been accused of raping a woman while on duty.
While everyone deserves due process, the evidence is quickly stacking up against Officer Ryan Macklin.
Macklin is a six-year veteran of the Prince George’s County Police Department.
It appears that he has never faced accusations like this before.
However, with the damning facts of this case, it would not be surprising to hear more allegations suddenly surface, since it appears they have him dead to rights here.
The alleged victim, who is an undocumented immigrant, stated she was pulled over by Macklin around 1 a.m. on Thursday morning.
The woman said Macklin then ordered her to move her car behind a store.
Once there, she stated that the officer started to fondle her breasts and forced her to perform oral sex on him.
Additionally, he told the woman he wanted to have intercourse with her.
Luckily, the alleged witness had called a friend earlier, and they showed up in the middle of the assault, interrupting the officer’s nefarious plans.
According to both the witness and the victim, the officer then returned to his cruiser and left the area.
While obviously upset over the attack, it appears the woman had to be encouraged to come forward.
Several of her friends convinced her to do just that, and she made her filing only hours after the alleged attack.
According to reports, there is also video evidence to support this woman’s claim.
As suggested above, the local police chief seems to be concerned more women will be coming forward.
“Officer take an oath to protect others, not to abuse their authority in order to victimize someone,” the police chief said.
He added that “there may be additional people impacted by this officer’s conduct.”
Officer Macklin has been suspended without pay during the investigation.
He has also been charged with first-degree rape, second-degree rape, second-degree assault, fourth-degree sex offense, and perverted practice.
