Marsha Blackburn hammers Tony Fauci: He ‘should step aside’

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and President Joe Biden’s chief medical adviser, continues to face mounting pressure to resign from his unofficial duties as America’s leading “expert” on COVID-19.

According to Breitbart, the pressure for Fauci to throw in the proverbial towel ratcheted to a new level this week as Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) made her feelings about the infectious disease expert crystal clear, writing that “Fauci should step aside” while referencing a recent poll that revealed a majority of Americans believe COVID-19 originated in a Wuhan, China lab.

Blackburn hammers Fauci

The Tennessee Republican has been one of Fauci’s fiercest critics in recent weeks as mounting evidence seems to point to the “lab leak theory” regarding COVID-19’s origination — a theory that Fauci laughed off in the beginning, but recently admitted appears to be much more plausible, according to The Hill.

In the poll Blackburn attached with her tweet, which was a survey conducted by The Economist/YouGov, a staggering 58% of Americans believe that COVID-19 came from the Wuhan lab.

Earlier this month, Blackburn made her desire for Fauci’s future brutally clear in a short, yet powerful tweet in which she wrote, “Fire Fauci.”

Blackburn has also focused on the mysterious relationship between Fauci and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, pointing to previously released emails in which the two corresponded. “What we do know is that definitely Dr. Fauci and Mark Zuckerberg were in cahoots on this, and it certainly deserves a look and an investigation from Congress.”

Fauci “shielded the Chinese Communist Party”

Fox News recently reported that Blackburn says she is convinced that Fauci is working overtime to protect China from being exposed in its alleged role in the leak of the COVID-19 virus — a virus that wrecked economies around the world and left millions dead in its wake.

“Whether intentional or not, Dr. Fauci’s statements shielded the Chinese Communist Party in covering up its role in creating this deadly pandemic by downplaying the possibility that the virus leaked from a lab,” Blackburn said of Fauci’s insistence that the virus emerged naturally.

She went on to point out that Fauci and a number of Democrats wrote off early mentions of the lab leak theory as “nutty,” with Big Tech companies such as Facebook joining forces to unleash a massive censorship campaign against anyone making such claims for a bulk of the duration of the pandemic.

“No amount of revisionism will change these facts,” the Tennessee senator added.

Though the Biden administration has recently signaled that it has no intention of firing Fauci, there are plenty of ticked-off members of Congress working hard to make it happen, whether through political pressure or by congressional law. Hopefully, one of those methods ends up successful.
