Liberal comedian Bill Maher is now getting blasted by his fellow liberals for his recent take on gender transitioning for children, The Blaze reports. 

In case you missed it, Maher questioned the political left’s position on the gender transitioning of children during Friday’s broadcast of his HBO show Real Time. 

He did so during his opening monologue, during which, at one point, he argued that “we’re literally experimenting on children.”

Where’s the “common sense?”

Maher started the segment off by citing a Gallup poll that shows that “the LGBT population of America seems to be roughly doubling every generation.” From there, he went on to focus on the gender transitioning of children, raising questions about the use of such things as puberty blockers.

“Maybe that’s why Sweden and Finland have stopped giving puberty blockers to kids,” Maher said, “because we just don’t know much about the long-term effects, although common sense should tell you that when you reverse the course of raging hormones, there’s going to be problems.”

Maher, after citing known problems with such drugs, went on to argue that one of the reasons why the Gallup poll shows what it shows is because claiming to be transgender or to have transgender children has become a “trendy” thing to do, particularly in leftist circles.

“If we can’t admit that, in certain enclaves, there is some level of trendiness to the idea of being anything other than straight, then this is not a serious, science-based discussion: it’s a blow being struck in the culture wars using children as cannon fodder,” Maher said.

That’s “transphobic”

While those against the gender transitioning of children hailed Maher’s take on the subject as some much-needed common sense from someone on the left, many leftists slammed the liberal comedian.

Leftists took to social media where they called Maher such things as “transphobic.”

“Surfed through some channels on my hotel tv,” one leftist wrote. “Not shocked that Bill Maher was spreading more transphobic bull**** as I clicked past. @HBO it is long past time to dump this hateful bigot. If it wasn’t transphobic it would be islamophobic. Get rid of it.”

“But for Bill Maher to frame trans children as ‘trendy’ while states are banning trans healthcare? It’s just transphobia,” another wrote.

It’s just another instance of the left eating its own.
