Democrat Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s Chicago continues to worsen on the violent crime front, and there appears to be no relief in sight as long as she runs the once-great Midwestern city.
Breitbart reports that at least 31 people were shot in Lightfoot’s Chicago over the weekend, adding to the long list of gun violence victims in an American city with some of the toughest anti-gun laws on the books.
On Sunday morning, it was reported that 21 people had been shot in Chicago between Friday evening and Sunday morning. Of those 21 shooting victims, three ended up succumbing to their injuries.
By the time Sunday was over, however, 21 shooting victims turned into 31 shooting victims. In addition, of those 31 people who were shot, five of them died as a result.
Breitbart provided the circumstances of the five fatal shootings that took place in Lightfoot’s Chicago over the weekend. The first took place Friday night when a 45-year-old man was found inside of a vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds.
The second fatal shooting occurred Saturday afternoon, with Breitbart reporting that a 22-year-old male was shot in the head while standing at the 3800 block of West Roosevelt.
The third fatal shooting took place roughly 30 minutes later, which involved a 47-year-old male who was killed in a drive-by shooting.
The last two shooting fatalities took place on Sunday. One involved a 19-year-old male who was shot in the head on Sunday afternoon. The other involved a 14-year-old male who was shot, multiple times, and died roughly thirty minutes later.
A horrific trend
Breitbart, in particular, has been tracking the perpetual violent crime spree taking place each weekend in Chicago. The unfortunate truth is that the number of shooting victims over the past weekend was nothing out of the ordinary for the city at this point. Such numbers have been reported weekend after weekend for several years now.
According to the latest tallies, the outlet noted, over 3,410 people have been shot just this year alone in Lightfoot’s Chicago. Of those 3,410 shooting victims, 725 people have died as a result of their injuries.
In the current month, which isn’t over yet, there have already been 45 deaths from shootings alone.
Lightfoot has done little to nothing to slow this disturbing trend down, and that sad fact will likely not change anytime soon.
