A new report is blowing up the internet over Ivanka Trump’s usage of her personal email account for government emails last year.
Liberals are now demanding the First Daughter be investigated and prosecuted for using this account, especially considering how hard Donald Trump was on Hillary Clinton during the election over her usage of a personal email account while she was Secretary of State.
Before anyone sets up the hangman’s noose, there are some rather significant differences in these two cases.
Hillary Clinton went out of her way to avoid government servers when using her personal email.
She literally had a network created specifically for her own usage.
A major point of focus during the Clinton investigation was the fact Hillary knowingly deleted emails and had her servers scrubbed to protect herself.
Clinton was suspected of having sent classified information over her network, which would be a security violation.
According to the report, Ivanka discusses non-classified information in her emails.
Some of the emails described were nothing more than family logistics and plans.
In other words, no national security material was involved.
A second difference is that Ivanka did not try to cover up by deleting emails.
Since Ivanka was communicating with government employees on the servers, every email she sent and received from those sources was preserved on the government servers.
Ivanka’s ethical counsel, Peter Mirijanian, stated, “To address misinformation being peddled about Ms. Trump’s personal email, she did not create a private server in her house or office, there was never classified information transmitted, the account server was never transferred or housed at Trump Organization, no emails were ever deleted, and the emails have been retained in the official account in conformity with records preservation laws and rules.”
That explanation was far from what liberals wanted to hear, though.
Several high-profile groups are now calling for an official investigation, demanding the “same standard” be applied to Ivanka as was to Clinton.
Even though the two cases are worlds apart, this is not likely to go away anytime soon and we can expect liberals and Democrats in office to pound this to death until they get some type of satisfaction.
