Fox News reports that a far-left group is offering a financial reward for anyone who provides information about the whereabouts of the conservative members of the U.S. Supreme Court.
The group is ShutDownDC.
ShutDownDC posted this tweet on Friday:
DC Service Industry Workers… If you see Kavanaugh, Alito, Thomas, Gorsuch, Coney Barrett or Roberts DM us with the details! We’ll venmo you $50 for a confirmed sighting and $200 if they’re still there 30 mins after your message.
This all stems from the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent decision, in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, to overturn the landmark abortion case Roe v. Wade. This returned the issue of whether or not abortion ought to be legal to the people and their state legislatures.
The left’s narrative, however, is that the justices took away a women’s so-called right to have an abortion. The left has been adhering to this narrative despite the fact that in some 20 states abortion has been and will remain legal.
The six justices targeted by ShutDownDC – Brett Kavanaugh, Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Amy Coney Barrett, and John Roberts – are the ones who voted in favor of overturning Roe. It is for this reason that they are being targeted.
An assassination attempt and more
The left has targeted the Supreme Court justices in various ways. We, for example, have seen a lot of “protesting” at the houses of the justices.
Justice Brett Kavanaugh, in particular, has seen some of the worst of it. An armed man was arrested in the vicinity of his home who had the expressed intent of killing him. Kavanaugh also was recently run out of a D.C. restaurant by leftists.
ShutDownDC celebrated the news on Twitter:
We hear Kavanaugh snuck out the back with his security detail. @mortons should be ashamed for welcoming a man who so clearly hates women.
They’re allowing it
The reason that the targeting of Supreme Court justices has continued is that the left, including President Joe Biden, has been allowing and even encouraging it. Biden, himself, targeted the justices in a speech that he gave last week while signing an executive order to protect abortion access.
Let’s also not ignore the fact that Twitter is also supporting such attacks by allowing groups like ShutDownDC to use the platform to, in this case, put a bounty on info about the whereabouts of the justices. This would appear to be a violation of the company’s policy, which states that users will not be allowed to “engage in the targeted harassment of someone, or incite other people to do so.”
Where’s the censorship that Twitter has become known for?
