Laura Ingraham, the well-known Fox News Channel host, has just announced that she is going to have to take some time off from work.
Ingraham made the announcement last week during an episode of her Fox News Channel show, The Ingraham Angle.
A “big announcement”
Ingraham had prefaced this with an earlier Twitter message in which she teased a “big announcement,” writing, “Let the good times roll in Los Angeles tonight — and a big announcement at the end of the show.”
The big announcement turned out to be that she is going to have to take some time off from The Ingraham Angle. And, it appears that this has been made necessary by injuries that she suffered in a recent skiing accident.
Ingraham posted to her Instagram account a video clip of the segment from the show in which she explains to viewers the circumstances of the accident.
Ingraham explains:
According to Ingraham, the skiing accident took place “the weekend before last” – which would have been the weekend of Jan. 14-15 – when she decided to take her sons skiing in Colorado.
“We had a blast. It was great snow – great fun,” Ingraham said, adding, “I didn’t wipe out once — until I took the bait.”
The “bait,” according to Ingraham, was a skiing race “down the mountain” that her sons challenged her to and that she accepted.
Ingraham said that she “took off after my 14-year-old,” Then, she joked, “suffice it to say, it was all downhill from there.”
Ingraham explained:
It was the last run of the day, about a quarter mile from the bottom, at Aspen Highlands, and, well, hit the ice, ski didn’t release, heard a snap – I immediately knew it was my ACL because I had done my other knee at the same resort 20 years ago.
The road ahead
Ingraham went on to reveal that she is having surgery in order to get the ACL injury fixed. After surgery, Ingraham said that she will do some physical therapy rehabilitation in order to “build back the muscle as soon as I can.”
Ingraham said that she hoped to return to hosting her Fox News Channel program by this week.
In the following days, Ingraham kept her fans updated on the process, posting the following tweet on Sunday:
Post-op recovery always better with dogs! Thanks for all the well wishes and to my phenomenal surgeons. Blessed! pic.twitter.com/EAaGsHckwV
