It is often said that many couples these days are much too quick to throw in the towel on their marriage.
That is why it is especially sad that despite multiple attempts at reconciliation over the past few years, Larsa Pippen has officially filed for divorce from husband of 21 years, Scottie Pippen.
Reality star issues public statement
In comments made to Us Weekly, the soon-to-be-ex-Mrs. Pippen announced that even though she and the retired NBA legend have “tried very hard for a long time” to make the union last, they ultimately decided that separate lives are best for all parties involved.
The statement went on to say that the pair will always cherish the memories they have made together, will remain “best of friends,” and plan to continue prioritizing the four children they have together.
Those children range in age from 9 to 17.
Pippen, who once starred on Bravo’s Real Housewives of Miami, went on to say that for the sake of the kids, they are asking for privacy during this very sensitive time in their lives.
Marital roller coaster
The Pippens have had a series of very public highs and lows in their marriage, with Scottie Pippen having filed divorce papers of his own back in October 2016.
Rumors of his wife’s infidelity with rapper Future were said, at the time, to have been the reason.
However, in November 2017, their divorce case was dismissed, as the couple doubled down on their efforts to remain husband and wife.
A source close to the pair told Us Weekly that while Larsa and Scottie did their best to put the pieces back together, “it wasn’t the same after Scottie filed in 2016.”
The insider went on to reveal that “they grew apart and have their own lives now,” and indicated that there were “things from their past they couldn’t move on from.”
NBA standout and Kardashian cohort
Scottie Pippen was a leading member of six NBA championship teams, a former All-Star MVP, and a two-time Olympic gold medalist who attained a host of other honors throughout his career.
Having been what many would call the second-best player next to Michael Jordan during the Chicago Bulls dynasty years, it could be argued that Pippen never quite received the widespread recognition he was due.
For her part, Larsa Pippen is also no stranger to the limelight, achieving notoriety as a reality television personality, fashion and lifestyle blogger, and official BFF to Kim Kardashian West.
The 44-year old Assyrian-Lebanese native of Chicago received a political science degree from the University of Illinois before embarking on a life of glitz, glamour and celebrity friends.
A marriage of 21 years is extraordinarily long by Hollywood standards, and that is why celebrity and sports fans everywhere likely feel more than a tinge of disappointment to see this couple parting ways for good.
