KTLA anchor Chris Burrous died of accidental methamphetamine overdose, coroner says

Beloved KTLA news anchor Christopher Burrous died suddenly in December, but the cause of death was not then reported.

Fox News now reports that Burrous died of an accidental meth overdose, citing the Los Angeles coronor’s newly-released findings.

Meth Overdose

According to the Fox News report, Burrous, 43, was found unresponsive on the afternoon of December 27th at a local Days Inn, where he had gone to meet a male companion for a sexual encounter.

The man with him called 911 and tried to perform CPR, but Burrous was ultimately pronounced dead at the hospital.

An autopsy revealed that Burrous died of methamphetamine toxicity.

The report also listed hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease as contributing factors.

Fans and Family Stunned

Burrous joined KTLA in 2011 after working in journalism for 14 years around the country.

He quickly became a viewer favorite.

One of his more popular segments was called “Burrous Bites.”

In each segment, Burrous would visit different local restaurants.

Burrous is survived by his wife of 15 years, Mai, and their 9-year-old daughter, Isabella.

Friends and supporters have donated over $100,000 through GoFundMe fundraisers to help “pay for a funeral, Mai finding a job, bills and other immediate expenses.”
