In the wake of the tragic shooting at a Christian school in Nashville, Tennessee, the White House wasted no time in exploiting the situation for political gain, calling for Congress to pass President Joe Biden's proposed "assault weapon ban."
But the scary part is in the possible details. According to The Daily Wire, press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, when pressed for details on the ban, including whether or not it could entail some type of confiscation program, she refused to answer.
And her silence on that specific part of the proposal made waves.
"Does the president support not just banning the sale and the manufacture of semi-automatic weapons, but further than that, confiscation?" she was asked this week.

"Let me just be very clear, what we’re talking about, AR-15s, this assault weapons ban, they are weapons of war," Jean-Pierre replied. Not only is that disinformation, as they are not "weapons of war," but she went radio silent on the confiscation part.
She continued: "As you know, we all know how government works."
"There’s only so much that he can do. And so now it’s time for Congress to do the work. And he’s happy to sign, once that happens, he’s happy to sign that legislation that says, ‘OK, we’re going to remove assault weapons – we’re going have an assault weapons ban.'”
When KJP was reminded by a reporter that Republicans have correctly noted that millions of Americans own AR-15s, she said the White House classifies that as "unacceptable."
"That’s unacceptable," she said. "That’s our response. It’s unacceptable that Republicans are saying that there’s nothing that we can do."
It's no wonder millions of law-abiding, gun-owning American citizens might be concerned about such a statement.
She spent most of the press briefing, at least on that subjects, virtually blaming Republicans for what a mentally deranged person does with a firearm. She made no mention of the killings that take place, with much higher numbers, by bad guys with pistols, shotguns, knives, bricks, vehicles, and any number of ways deranged people kill innocent people.
If you had any doubt that your Second Amendment rights were under attack by this administration, her words this week should be a somber reminder of what they're really wanting behind the curtains.
We need to do much better in the next election to eliminate such a threat.
