Trump says Kim Jong-Un’s attitude towards the US change after he visited China

Talks between President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un may have just hit a snag.

After Kim met with China’s president, Trump said there was a notable difference in the posturing of Kim, and “I can’t say that I’m happy about it.”

The Summit

Trump and Kim were expected to meet at some point in June to discuss denuclearizing the Korean peninsula.

Kim himself had made some rather surprising moves to appease Trump.

The North Korean leader vowed to no longer test nuclear missiles.

He also stated he was going to take one testing site down completely.

Then he met with President Xi Jinping of China.

Posturing

After the meeting with Xi, Kim’s posture towards the United States has seemingly changed.

Not long after the meeting, North Korea blasted the United States over military exercises it was holding with South Korea.

In addition to that criticism, North Korea issued a statement expressing its disinterest in the summit if the United States was going to insist on “unilateral nuclear abandonment.”

That is a huge reversal from Kim’s previous position.

President Trump believes the meeting with China is what changed Kim’s position.

While Trump had had a positive relationship with China thus far, he believes the Chinese leader was the little birdie talking in Kim’s ear.

Trump has not dismissed the summit altogether, though.

Trump stated, “If it doesn’t happen, maybe it will happen later.”

The President also stated the United States remains in talks with North Korea regarding the summit.

If the summit is called off, it would be a huge disappointment for the administration that has been touting this summit for weeks.
