One 2020 hopeful is calling for severe action to be taken against President Donald Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani.
Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) is urging authorities to investigate Giuliani’s interaction with Ukraine, arguing that he “probably” needs to be disbarred as a lawyer.
Watch out Rudy
“The New York Bar Association needs to investigate Giuliani and probably disbar him,” she told host Chris Matthews of on MSNBC’s “Hardball.”
Harris, who has abundant experience in the legal field, where at one time she was the attorney general of California, reiterated her opinion in a second interview with CNN.
“Rudy Giuliani really ought to stop talking and get a lawyer…,” she said. “I’m calling for the IG [Inspector General] to investigate if any State officials worked with Giuliani to help him with his personal quest, but I am also saying…the state bar of New York needs to investigate Rudy Giuliani.”
What did he do?
Harris’ two interviews came after Thursday’s declassification and release of the now-infamous whistleblower complaint related to a July phone call between President Donald Trump and Ukraine’s new president.
We already knew that Giuliani communicated with Ukraine. But now, this document further alleges that two State Department officials spoke to Giuliani in order to “contain the damage” to national security that resulted from his conversation.
This is one of the reasons why Harris is calling for an investigation and possible disbarment. The other, of course, is surely a last-ditch attempt to gain poll points in her failing presidential campaign.
Meanwhile, Giuliani, who is currently one of President Donald Trump’s personal attorneys, gave an interview of his own on CNN in which he emphatically denied the new allegation, saying, “I had no knowledge of any of that crap.”
“At no time did either one of them say they wanted to contain damage,” he continued. “At no time did the State Department in communication with me ever relay any of that information you’re talking about.”
For now, the American people will have to wait to see whether anything comes of these allegations.
All eyes are on Trump and Giuliani, but attention has also been drawn to former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter who engaged in their own controversial doings with Ukraine.
