Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA), who is running for president, has been insisting there is no border crisis.
But with 99,000 migrants reportedly arrested in April — a number Border Patrol Chief Carla Provost calls “off the charts” — it looks like Ms. Harris has been caught in a bold-faced lie.
The Border Crisis
Democrats can pretend we don’t have a crisis on our southern border, but the facts tell a completely different story.
When you have more than 4,000 migrants trying to get through a single checkpoint on any given day, there is a problem.
When you have almost 100,000 illegals trying to get into the country in one month, that is an even bigger problem.
And when border arrests are approaching double-digit increases that are among the highest we have seen in this county in more than a decade — and quickly approaching the staggering numbers of the 1980s — that is a major problem.
“We cannot address this crisis by simply shifting more resources or building more facilities,” Chief Provost told Congress. “It’s like a holding a bucket under a faucet… It doesn’t matter how many buckets you give me if we can’t turn off the flow.”
Addressing the Problem
That statement by Chief Provost tells the story completely. Democrats are more than happy to provide money for more and better facilities because that does not violate their narrative.
Anything else, though, and they would actually be admitting there is an immigration problem in this country.
Nobody is denying the fact that some of the countries these people are coming from are in pretty bad shape. However, we can say the same about certain areas of this country.
Allowing these immigrants to cross into this country unimpeded is not going to help with the poverty and homelessness already in America. It will only make it worse.
We need legitimate immigration reform, something President Donald Trump has been begging Democrats to work on.
Meanwhile, Dems refuse to help because they do not want to work this president in any way, shape, or form. It’s sickening.
