Justice Clarence Thomas taken to hospital for ‘infection,’ Supreme Court says

Just a few days before the U.S. Supreme Court was set to dominate the headlines as President Joe Biden’s SCOTUS nominee is scheduled to begin her confirmation process with a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, another shocking high court issue popped up over the weekend.

According to ABC News, conservative Justice Clarence Thomas, 73, was recently hospitalized. The Supreme Court issued a brief statement on his condition, explaining that Justice Thomas apparently had an infection, and “flu-like” symptoms, causing many to speculate if he had contracted COVID-19.

Fortunately, that doesn’t appear to be the case. He was taken to Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C., where he found out about the infection, though details of what type of infection he contracted were not made public as of yet.

The justice will be treated, reports say, with intravenous antibiotics to manage the infection.

Favorable prognosis

Luckily, the situation doesn’t appear to be much of a scare for his family and work colleagues, as Supreme Court spokesperson Patricia McCabe indicated in the statement.

“His symptoms are abating, he is resting comfortably, and he expects to be released from the hospital in a day or two,” McCabe wrote.

She added: “Justice Thomas will participate in the consideration and discussion of any cases for which he is not present on the basis of the briefs, transcripts and audio of the oral arguments.”

Fortunately, the conservative justice doesn’t have a history of any serious health problems, making his speedy recovery all the more likely.

Nasty liberal reaction

As many pointed out over the weekend on Twitter, when the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was hospitalized on several occasions, those from both sides of the political aisle wished her a speedy recovery and well wishes.

However, that hasn’t been the case with Thomas’ situation, as a number of leftists across social media posted disgusting and disrespectful messages about his hospitalization, with some even suggesting that he deserved it, and others, even worse, hoping for his demise.

We certainly wish Justice Thomas all the best and the speediest possible recovery from his infection. He can rest assured knowing that decent Americans across the country are currently praying for his recovery and release from the hospital.
