District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson has accused former Trump Attorney General Bill Barr of being “disingenuous” in his withholding of an internal memo related to the Mueller report, USA Today reported.
In a ruling ordering the Department of Justice to release a March 2019 memo related to the report, the Barack Obama-appointed judge said, “Not only was the Attorney General being disingenuous then, but DOJ has been disingenuous to this Court with respect to the existence of a decision-making process that should be shielded by the deliberative process privilege.”
It was the March memo that concluded that there was not sufficient evidence to support an obstruction prosecution of Trump relating to Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian collusion with the former president.
Certain Democrats are desperately trying to keep the Russian collusion conspiracy alive even though it was settled years ago that former President Trump was not working with Russia to influence the outcome of the 2016 election.
This latest memo will likely not reveal anything that hasn’t already been thrown in the faces of Americans for years.
Following the Muller report’s release in March 2019, Barr quoted directly from it, saying, “the investigation did not establish that members of the Trump Campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities.”
That conclusion will stand even as Democrats desperately search for any scrap of evidence that could possibly suggest Trump was working with Russia to win the 2016 election.
Judge Jackson continued saying, “The agency’s redactions and incomplete explanations obfuscate the true purpose of the memorandum, and the excised portions belie the notion that it fell to the Attorney General to make a prosecution decision or that any such decision was on the table at any time.”
Trump is the lowest priority
The significance of this ruling and the release of the Mueller memo will likely be negligible, and even Democrats will likely ignore it in favor of more important matters.
Former President Trump is the last thing that Democrats are thinking about right now. Their priority is President Biden’s stalling legislative agenda.
Thanks to the continuous dysfunction coming out of the White House, Biden’s grand plans are stalling, and time to enact them is running out.
Democrats were crushed in a special election for a purple seat in Texas, a bad omen for 2022. A memo about a long concluded investigation will do nothing to help Democrats keep the House in 2022.
