DC judge blocks Trump’s attempt to keep his tax records away from Congress

President Donald Trump has lost yet another legal battle in the federal courts.

This time, Judge Amit Mehta sided with the House Oversight Committee, meaning Trump must turn over his tax returns.

The War Continues

While Trump has lost this battle, the war is not over yet. Mehta decided in favor of House Democrats, stating that it was not his place to rule on political motive.

That being the case, he has to take the House at its word that the taxes are needed to potentially compose legislation.

The heart of the Trump suit, though, is that this is a politically motivated action by the House. While Mehta ruled against Trump, it does not mean Trump is going to lose this case.

Trump’s attorneys are already working on the appeal. Even if they lose that appeal, it will surely end up in the Supreme Court at some point. All the while, the Attorney General continues the investigations into the origins of the Trump-Russia collusion probe.

Origins Investigations

The investigations into the origins of the initial probe are going to have a huge impact on this case, as well as other House investigations. If the origins of the investigation are tainted as they very much appear to be, this case may end up in the trash can.

On Sunday, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) actually stated treason charges are a real possibility against former FBI agents Peter Strzok and Lisa Page.

Considering those two individuals were part of the original investigative team, it would be hard to look at the probe as anything but tainted.

At the heart of all this is the fact the Democrats refuse to accept the results of the 2016 election.

Everyone expected this judge, who is an Obama appointee, by the way, to rule in favor of the House. That is the unfortunate state of the liberally biased judicial system in this country right now.

Mehta’s decision, however, does not signal the end of this war, as we are only getting started.
