American journalists think they have it bad…
On Monday, a group of Russian journalists were reportedly killed investigating a story on a mercenary group.
Orhan Dzhemal, Alexander Rastorguyev, and Kirill Radchenko were three Russian journalists who had traveled to the Central African Republic to investigate the so-called Wagner Group.
The organization reportedly carried out clandestine missions for the Russian government in Syria and eastern Ukraine.
Reports tie the organization directly to Yevgeny Prigozhin, a known ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Prigozhin is also the alleged owner of the organization that trolled the 2016 presidential election.
While the attack did kill the three aforementioned journalists, there was one survivor.
The driver of the car did manage to escape with his life.
Armed men attacked
The mayor of the town (Sibut) where the attack occurred, Henri Depele, released a brief statement about the attack.
“According to the driver’s explanations, when they were 23 km from Sibut (about 14 miles), armed men emerged from the bush and opened fire on the vehicle,” Depele said.
According to the driver, all three journalists were instantly killed.
The three men worked for TsUR news organization.
TsUR is a well-known agency that has uncovered alleged corruption in the past by members of Putin’s inner circle.
That leaves us wondering: who was really behind these murders?
The world may never know for sure.
