Joe Gatto of ‘Impractical Jokers’ announces departure from show in Instagram post

The cast of TruTV’s Impractical Jokers has made Americans laugh time and time again, as the quirky team of four finds new ways to embarrass each other on hidden camera by pulling a variety of different pranks and skits.

But according to Fox News, the popular show took a major hit this week as one of its four stars, Joe Gatto, announced via social media that he will no longer be part of the comedy quartet, citing personal issues.

The news of his departure comes on the heels of a recent divorce, with Gatto going into great detail in an Instagram post explaining his exit from the show and thanking his loyal fans and viewers for such a long period of success.

“Couldn’t be prouder”

The 45-year-old comedian was candid in his post, and emphasized that he’s ready to “co-parent” his children with his now ex-wife.

“Alongside my friends, I’ve devoted a decade of my life to building this franchise and couldn’t be prouder of what has been accomplished. However, due to some issues in my personal life, I have to step away,” Gatto wrote.

He added: “Bessy and I have decided to amicably part ways, so now I need to focus on being the best father and co-parent to our two incredible kids.”

Gatto went on to extend his gratitude for his relationship outside of the show with his co-hosts, James S. Murray, Brian “Q” Quinn, and Sal Vulcano, saying his friends “have been the most important in my life.”

The comedian teamed up with his co-hosts in high school, and originally formed a comedy troupe known then as The Tenderloins.

Thanking producers and fans

Gatto went on to thank those behind the scenes for making the hit television show possible.

“And even though the four of us are the ones who you all see, this show is only possible due to the hard work of the talented crew members who work behind the scenes. I am very thankful to have worked with each and every one of them,” he wrote.

For fans of the show, it will undoubtedly be difficult to imagine the show without Gatto, even with the talent possessed by the rest of his team. Only time will tell if they attempt to carry on as a trio or eventually find someone willing to attempt to fill some very large and hilarious shoes.
