Joe Biden remains ‘confident’ in his son’s innocence amid federal probes

Joe Biden doesn’t seem to think anything will come out of the ongoing federal investigations into his son, Hunter.

Breitbart¬†reported Wednesday that the Democrat told the press he is “confident” his son did nothing wrong.¬†

Joe Biden’s remarks came in response to a question from Fox News’ Peter Doocy. “Are you confident that your son did nothing wrong?” Doocy asked, according to Breitbart.

“I’m confident,” Biden, who won Monday’s Electoral College vote for the presidency, replied. He reportedly refused to comment further.

Is he serious?

Of course, it’s unusual to get only two-word responses from a politician on anything. But Joe Biden has repeatedly refused to answer questions about the ongoing investigations into his son, according to Breitbart — and that’s only making matters worse.

The Democrat’s transition team put out a statement when Hunter Biden first announced he was the subject of a federal probe, saying merely: “President-elect Biden is deeply proud of his son, who has fought through difficult challenges, including the vicious personal attacks of recent months, only to emerge stronger.”

Other than that, Joe Biden has said only that he’s “proud” of his son, as Breitbart notes.

Growing problems for Hunter

Meanwhile, the son who Joe Biden is apparently so “proud” of is currently the subject of multiple federal probes, including one being led by the U.S. attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania at the request of outgoing Attorney General Bill Barr.

According to Breitbart, that probe has to do with Hunter Biden’s connection to Burisma Holdings, a controversial Ukrainian energy company for which he worked despite having no real qualifications — other than having a dad with political connections.

According to Politico, federal investigators are also looking into Hunter Biden’s taxes, as well as “potential money laundering.”

A recent report from NBC News indicated that Hunter Biden was told by a former business partner in 2017 that he failed to disclose as much as $400,000 in income from Burisma on his 2014 tax returns.

With all this in mind, should Joe Biden really be so confident that his son will get off scot-free? Unless he knows something we don’t, it seems Biden and his family could soon be in for a major reckoning.
